On March 1, 2024, at 11:30 am, Once Again held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate its grand opening. Centreville’s latest business was welcomed by many, despite the cold and rainy weather.

Once Again is located in the old Cleveland’s building on Centreville Town Square. The store features vintage collectibles and once-used items including decor, furniture, kitchenware, knickknacks, and more. Owners Bill and Dot Calderwood are thrilled to bring another small, locally owned business to Bibb County.

“Everything has turned out just perfect,” shared Dot Calderwood on the day of the grand opening, excitement written all over her face as she greeted everyone with a warm welcome. “And we just pray that everything will continue to go just as good.”

The Main Street Program, which aims to revitalize and enhance Uptown Centreville’s aesthetic and business dynamic to attract and encourage people to shop locally, heartily welcomed Once Again to the Town Square.

“We are so excited for the first actual business to open in our district,” Melissa Thompson, Director of Main Street Centreville, said of Once Again. “It’s such a good one, too – they’re so excited, which makes us even more excited. They’ve had such a good response in filling all of their booths that there is even a waiting list. I love that this store will encourage more foot traffic Uptown.”

Lynn Hamric, Secretary of the Main Street Board, lent a hand to help welcome everyone in to Once Again and assisted the Calderwoods with setting up the refreshments as well as with opening sales.

If you come through Uptown Centreville, you may notice that a significant exterior renovation to the Ritz Theater has recently been made – and it is only the beginning of the improvements that are slated to be made. Jeff McGee, Chair of the Main Street Board of Directors, praised the Calderwoods for being the inaugural business to open in the Centreville Main Street district in this initiative as well as gave encouraging updates on the status of the program as a whole. “We are in the process of acquiring grants for facade improvements, painting, lighting, benches, landscaping, even updated garbage cans – everything up here to make it better and prettier.”

McGee and Hamric agreed that if you build it, businesses will come; if you renovate it, they will move in. With such economic development brings along stability by default, and we are only in the beginning stages of seeing it become a reality for Uptown Centreville.

Any business that opens in the Main Street district will receive help from the program, and that most certainly includes Once Again. They will receive aid in beautifying their building’s exterior with fresh new paint and other notable, eye-catching enhancements.

Once Again’s business hours are 10am to 5pm, Monday through Saturday. You can stop by to visit them at 1184 Walnut Street, Centreville, AL 35042.

With a wonderful turnout of community support to celebrate alongside the Calderwoods, the future of the Centreville Main Street Program has never looked brighter. Progress is being steadily made, and the opening of Once Again only adds to that positive momentum that is being built.
