The Literacy Council of West Alabama is proud to introduce Marshae Madison-Pelt as the newly appointed Executive Director for the West Alabama region. In this capacity, she will lead the organization’s strategic management and operational endeavors while also spearheading efforts to develop relationships and seek opportunities to work with communities in Bibb, Fayette, Lamar, Perry, Pickens, Sumter, and Tuscaloosa counties. Marshae’s appointment signifies a significant step forward in our mission to eliminate illiteracy and empower individuals throughout our community. 

 

An unwavering commitment exists to eliminate illiteracy throughout the West Alabama region. The LCWA is deeply devoted to empowering individuals by enriching their reading and writing abilities, by doing so, greatly improving their quality of life through our unwavering dedication to literacy programs. 

 

With a wealth of experience in educational leadership and development across diverse school settings including rural, urban, and suburban districts, Marshae brings an inclusive professional background to her new role. Her career encompasses teaching, literacy coaching, and administrative positions spanning elementary to secondary education. Moreover, she has held pivotal roles in central office operations, serving as a Literacy Specialist, Student Service Coordinator, and Testing and Accountability Coordinator. Marshae has also shared her expertise as an adjunct professor within Stillman College’s College of Education. 

 

Marshae’s academic credentials are notable and extensive. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Stillman College and a Master of Science degree from Troy University. Additionally, she has provided her qualifications with a Leadership Administration and Supervision Certification from Alabama State University, along with an Educational Specialist degree in Curriculum Management and Administration from Nova Southeastern University. Marshae also holds accreditation as a Certified Instructional Leader and is certified by the National Board in Literacy and Language Arts. One of her primary objectives at LCWA is to evaluate the present fundraising environment and pinpoint avenues to enhance our financial resources. Madison explained, “This entails assessing our current donor pool, investigating prospective grant possibilities, and crafting a comprehensive fundraising blueprint.” 

 

Marshae’s goals encompass strengthening ties with current supporters and encouraging greater engagement in our mission. Through the implementation of a comprehensive fundraising and development strategy, she is dedicated to ensuring the enduring sustainability and growth of the Literacy Council West Alabama’s programs. This approach is designed to enhance our impact within the West Alabama community, driving meaningful change for years to come.
