Relay For Life of Bibb County is happy to announce that the event will take place on Saturday, May 4th at the BMC Wellness Center. The Survivor’s Tea, hosted by Brent Study Club, will commence at 4 p.m., followed by the Opening Ceremonies at 5 p.m. This year, the event will feature Anna Stewart as the guest speaker and Mayor Mike Oakley will sing the National Anthem. 

  

During the Opening Ceremony, survivors and caregivers will be honored by leading the first laps, while the Relay For Life of Bibb County pageant winners will receive recognition. The event will be filled with performances by various groups including West Blocton High School, West Blocton Jr Varsity, Centreville Middle School cheerleaders, majorettes from West Blocton High School, West Blocton Middle School, Centreville Middle School, and Hale County High School, as well as the Color Guard from West Blocton High School, Bibb County High School, and Hale County High School. Additionally, the WBHS Jazz Band and The Studio will provide musical entertainment. 

  

With over 30 vendor booths offering a variety of goods and services including face painting, food, and information, attendees will have plenty to explore. Local churches will also be participating, sharing information about vacation Bible school. 

  

The Superhero Kids walk will commence around 6:00 p.m. with the arrival of Big Al. Both kids and adults are encouraged to join in wearing superhero attire and costumes to support childhood cancer awareness. At 6:15 p.m., there will be a chance to pie the politician, followed by the Luminaria Ceremony at 7:00 p.m. A Kids Scavenger Hunt will kick off at 7:15 p.m., followed by a performance by Taylor Bagi. The Glow Walk will take place from 7:30 to 8:00 p.m., with participants asked to bring their own glow items. 

  

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, money to support vendors and the Relay, random items for the scavenger hunt, and most importantly, enthusiasm for a fantastic evening in support of Relay For Life.
