April is Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month. Nationally, it has been observed each April since 1981 to raise awareness that all children deserve to grow up in a happy and healthy environment.  For the past 10 years, The Central Alabama Regional Child Advocacy Center, has hosted an event to honor child abuse victims and raise awareness in its service region. In Bibb, Dallas, Hale, Perry and Wilcox counties, the event has transformed into planting Pinwheel Gardens, where each blue pinwheel represents a child involved in an abuse investigation during the year.

The CAC is so excited to be hosting the Pinwheel Garden planting again this year. The public is invited to wear blue and join us to “plant” pinwheels in the Garden at the Bibb County Courthouse at 5 p.m. on Monday, April 12, 2021. We encourage everyone to post pictures to the CARCAC’s social media pages, and help raise awareness throughout the month of April. Bibb County will join thousands of other communities across our nation who are putting children first and working to promote the prevention of child abuse and neglect.  Shining in the sun, the pinwheel is reflective of the bright future all children deserve.

The Child Advocacy Center’s Satellite office at 183 SW Davidson Drive will also be offering tours of the Center from 3 – 4 p.m. We encourage the public to visit the place were so many brave children have told their stories.

Please feel free to contact the Central Alabama Regional Child Advocacy Center at 334-875-0890 with any questions or to set up a tour of the Center in Bibb County.
