ALABASTER—Bibb County’s Chuck Martin endorsed Russell Bedsole in the special election of Alabama House of Representatives District 49. Martin, a Republican candidate who also ran for the vacant seat, ended his campaign after finishing third in the election on August 4, 2020.
“After thoughtful consideration, I am endorsing Russell Bedsole to represent District 49 in the Alabama House of Representatives,” says Martin. “Like me, Bedsole has deep roots in District 49. I believe he will be a strong voice for Bibb, Shelby, and Chilton counties, and he will fight for our communities’ conservative Christian values in Montgomery.”
Bedsole is a 22-year veteran of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. He’s been elected twice by the citizens of Alabaster to represent Ward 5 on the Alabaster City Council. During his time of service, Alabaster has benefited from positive economic growth, a first-class school system, and a high quality of life. He has also received endorsements from the Shelby County Fraternal Order of Police, Shelby County Sheriff John Samaniego, Alabama State Fraternal Order of Police, Alabama Association of Nurse Anesthetists, and Conservation Alabama.
“It is an honor to be endorsed by Chuck Martin,” says Bedsole. “As a representative of District 49, I will fight for pro-life and pro-Second Amendment legislation, along with funding for developing crucial infrastructure, in the Alabama House of Representatives.”
A runoff election for the District 49 seat will be held on September 1.
“I humbly ask for your vote on September 1 to grant me the opportunity to serve District 49,” says Bedsole.
This is Bedsole’s sixth endorsement following the Alabama Association of Nurse Anesthetists, Shelby County Sheriff John Samaniego, Shelby County Fraternal Order of Police, Conservation Alabama, and Alabama State Fraternal Order of the Police.
