Senatorial Candidate April Weaver hosted a thank you luncheon for local Bibb County first responders yesterday. The event was held outdoors at the Bibb County Farmers Market on the grounds of Bibb Medical Center’s open pavilion and was well attended. The event was sponsored by the Alabama Forestry Association

“Our police, fire fighters and paramedics are community leaders that often perform thankless jobs for our communities,” said April Weaver, candidate for Alabama State Senate, District 14.  “We wanted to show our appreciation and support for these fine men and women.

 

Weaver and the Alabama Forestry Association sponsored three “Back the Blue” events  over a two day period in  Centreville, Helena and Clanton.  Weaver, assisted by volunteers, cooked hamburgers and prepared meals to show support and appreciation for our first responders.  Well over 500 people attended all three events

“We were pleased with the community turnout,” April Weaver stated.  “Hopefully, we were able to spread a little joy to our first responders and show our appreciation by providing them with good home cooked hamburgers.”

April Weaver served ten years as an accomplished state legislator in the Alabama House of Representatives, including five years as the chair of the House Health Committee.  She served as the Chairman of the Shelby County House Delegation from October of 2016 through May of 2020.  Most recently, she served as the Region IV Regional Director for the United States Department of Health and Human Services. A registered nurse who holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration, Weaver worked for over 23 years as a hospital leader in various management roles in urban, suburban, and rural hospitals.

Weaver is running for State Senate, District 14, which was vacated by Senator Cam Ward after he was appointed to serve as Director of Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles.  Senate District 14 encompasses portions of Bibb, Chilton, and Shelby Counties.

The Republican Primary will be held on March 30th.  Please be sure to get out and vote in this important election.
