Dual Enrollment Opportunities at West Blocton High School and Bibb County High School

Dual enrollment programs offer invaluable opportunities for students to get a head start on their college education while still attending high school. Both West Blocton High School (WBHS) and Bibb County High School (BCHS) have well-established dual enrollment programs that enable their students to earn college credits, save on tuition, and ease the transition into higher education.
At WBHS, 23% of eligible students are enrolled in dual enrollment classes. This program allows students to take college-level courses in areas such as Art Appreciation, English 101, Math 100, Math 112, Spanish 101, Fundamentals of Auto Tech, and Psychology 210, giving them a diverse range of subjects to explore while still in high school. To date, WBHS students have earned 169 college credit hours, which is equivalent to $28,730 in tuition costs saved. These savings highlight the financial benefit of dual enrollment, which helps reduce the overall cost of a college education for families.
The WBHS program is open to 10th through 12th-grade students, offering them a chance to save money, experience the pace of college coursework, and make a smoother transition to life after high school. Dual enrollment is an excellent way for students to challenge themselves academically and build confidence before fully stepping into a college environment.
Similarly, BCHS has an impressive dual enrollment program, with its students earning a collective 323 college credit hours and saving $54,910 in tuition costs. Like WBHS, BCHS offers a wide selection of courses, including Spanish 101, Art Appreciation, English 101, Math 110, Biology, U.S. History I & II, Psychology, and Keyboarding. This broad array of classes ensures that students can explore their academic interests while accumulating credits that will transfer to colleges and universities, giving them a significant advantage once they graduate high school.
By enrolling in these courses, BCHS students not only get a jumpstart on their college education, but they also have the opportunity to better understand their academic strengths and preferences, all while lightening the financial load of future tuition costs.
