Tuscaloosa, Alabama – Shelton State Community College (SSCC) recently hosted a professional development conference at the C. A. Fredd Campus for 27 secondary and post-secondary automotive instructors from Alabama and East Mississippi institutions. The two-day event, sponsored by The Resource Center and President Bob Kimbrell, took place on February 8 and 9.
Presenters at the conference included John Bukowski from ConsuLab, an organization specializing in manufacturing training equipment in technology. Mike Batchelor with the ASE Education Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides training resources for automotive service professionals and instructors, also presented at the event.
“Hosting the conference allowed Shelton State to showcase our newly renovated facilities and equipment while also creating community and networking opportunities for those in the automotive education industry,” said Michael Hobson, Instructor and Division Chair for Automotive and Diesel Technology.
SSCC also partnered with Justin Russell from General Motors and Chris Westmoreland from Southeast Toyota Distributors to contribute to the conference. By hosting this event and showcasing the quality automotive program, the program’s leadership hopes instructors from other institutions will recommend SSCC as a program for their graduates to continue automotive education training.
