By Savannah Logan

The Bibb Extension recently took proactive steps to equip Bibb County’s youth with essential life skills often not covered in formal education. Hosting a life simulation event on Tuesday, February 21st at the Bibb County Career Academy, the Bibb Extension, alongside BCCA faculty and staff, guided juniors and seniors through a series of scenarios representing real-life challenges they might encounter in early adulthood. Volunteers and school personnel manned twelve stations, presenting students with choices regarding housing, transportation, insurance, childcare, and other aspects of daily life. Each student was assigned a career and family status with an average monthly income, exposing them to the realities of managing everyday expenses and unexpected financial burdens. This immersive experience aimed to deepen students’ understanding of financial responsibility, prompting them to reconsider spending habits and career decisions. The simulation served as a valuable learning opportunity, offering insight into the complexities of adulthood and fostering appreciation for the challenges faced by their families and guardians on a daily basis.
