On Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 4:30 a.m. Brent was dispatched to a large industrial fire at Sims Bark off Hwy 5. With aid from multiple agencies the fire was contained around 9:00 a.m. No injuries were reported.
Agencies involved in the effort were Brent Fire Department, Centreville Volunteer Fire Department, Cedar Grove Fire Department- Chilton County, AL, Montevallo Fire and Rescue, Brierfield Volunteer Fire & Rescue, Hagler Volunteer Fire Department, Maplesville Volunteer Fire & Rescue, Eoline Volunteer Fire Department, Cedar Grove Volunteer Fire, Bibb West Blocton Fire & Rescue, Duncanville Volunteer Fire Dept, AmServ EMS, Brent Police Department, Centreville Police Department, Bibb County E-911 including 15 apparatus equipment and machinery. Brent Fire Department was able to use the ladder truck that was attained from Brierfield which was very useful.
Our local McDonald’s of Brent and Jones Citgo provided breakfast for all involved in putting out the fire.
At this time, there is no report of how the fire started. Employees are being reassigned to different areas to keep them on the job. And all efforts are being made to rebuild the building in a quick and timely manner.
