Do you have habits, hurts or hang-ups? If we are honest, we would all have to say yes. The truth is that all of us have areas in our lives that need improvement. Many of us have experienced pain in at least some of the many forms that life has to offer. Sometimes this pain can derail us on our quest to be a better person. It is in this light that Brent Bible Methodist Church kicked off the Celebrate Recovery program on November the 7th. Each Tuesday night in the church fellowship hall at 7:00, a group of people meet and acknowledge their need for Jesus to help them be more like Him. The meeting starts with a time of talking and catching up with each other over some good food and coffee. This is followed by singing and a short discussion on subjects like coming out of denial, our powerlessness to succeed without help, finding hope in Christ, and choosing to let others support us. Celebrate Recovery, a Christ-centered recovery program, began at Saddleback Church in California in the early 90s and is now a nationwide program with meetings in many cities in the United States. Many people start the New Year with many resolutions regarding things they would like to see improved in their lives. Thousands of people have obtained help through Celebrate Recovery and it is easy to find their testimonials on YouTube. A Celebrate Recovery meeting is a great way to meet others who are also on a journey to grow in their Christian faith and to use the support of others to achieve goals. If you would like to start your New Year on a new journey, join us each Tuesday night for Celebrate Recovery at 7 p.m., 210 4th Street, Brent, AL.
