The holiday season in Bibb County is about to shine a little brighter. Christmas on the Cahaba has officially announced the return of its beloved Tree Lighting Ceremony, a tradition that brings families from all over the community together to kick off the Christmas season.

This year’s event will take place on Dec. 4 from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at the BMC Wellness Center, with the tree lighting scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Organizers say the annual celebration is one of the town’s most cherished gatherings, offering a festive, family-friendly evening full of holiday spirit. and explore a lineup of local food trucks serving seasonal treats. Parents are encouraged to take as many pictures of the trees as possible, as last year’s event had around 20-25 decorated trees.

Families can expect a variety of activities leading up to the big moment. Children will be able to enjoy train rides and bounce around on inflatable attractions.

In addition to the activities, the ceremony serves as an opportunity for neighbors to reconnect, celebrate community pride, and welcome the most joyful time of the year together. Many families have made the tree lighting part of their yearly traditions, returning each December to enjoy the holiday atmosphere.

Organizers hope this year’s event will be the biggest yet, and they invite everyone to bundle up, bring their Christmas spirit, and enjoy an evening filled with lights, laughter, and memories.
