Community Connect: Trinity Burt, Promoting Health and Wellness at BMC

By Savannah Logan

Bibb Medical Center’s Wellness Coordinator, Trinity Burt, brings a passion for health, organization, and community engagement to her role. From her early days working at Chick-fil-A to her transition into marketing and wellness, her journey reflects her dedication to helping others. In this interview, Trinity shares insights into her work, personal life, and vision for the future of wellness programs at BMC.

Can you tell us a bit about your background and what led you to your role as the Wellness Coordinator at Bibb Medical Center?

“My first job was at Chick-fil-A, where I worked for about five and a half years. After high school, I began pursuing a degree in Business Administration at Judson College. When the college unfortunately closed, I returned to Chick-fil-A and transitioned into the role of marketing coordinator during my final two years there. After moving to Bibb County when I got married, I began searching for receptionist positions to shift to a different pace of work. My husband, who was a member of the Wellness Center at the time, told me about the Wellness Coordinator position. I decided to apply because I loved the idea of working in a gym setting where I could meet new people. As someone who thrives on organization, the opportunity to manage a small staff, handle scheduling, oversee the front desk, and stay involved in marketing felt like the perfect fit for me.”

Can you tell us about your family?

“My husband, Mason Burt, and I have been married since November 2022 and together since April 2017. Over the past eight years, we’ve shared so many memorable experiences, and our favorite ones always involve a cruise! Mason works at Bama Direct and is the handiest person I know. He can fix just about anything, thank goodness, because I definitely can’t! We have two dogs, both adopted from shelters. Dakota is our sweet, spoiled girl who doesn’t care much for toys, but her gentle personality and love for snuggles and soft blankets make her the perfect companion. Denver is the complete opposite! He’s full of energy, always ready to play, and will fetch anything you throw for him. Denver’s playful personality always keeps us laughing.”

Are you a resident of Bibb County, and if so, how long have you lived here?

“I lived in Jemison, Alabama, my entire life and only moved here when I got married.”

How do you stay motivated to maintain your own wellness while encouraging others to do the same?

“Taking care of myself through my diet has become a much bigger priority than it was before. Mason and I have made it a weekly routine to go grocery shopping every Sunday, and we make sure to prepare healthy leftovers or quick meal options to take with us to work throughout the week. This helps us avoid relying on fast food, which has made a huge difference in how we feel and stay energized.”

What is your favorite way to relax or recharge after a busy day?

“My favorite way to relax and recharge after a busy day is picking up a book or my Kindle. I absolutely love reading. There’s nothing better than going home, putting on my pajamas, and snuggling up with the dogs. Recently, with the cold weather, I’ve also been enjoying the warmth of my heated blanket during this time.”

What is your favorite part about your role at BMC Wellness?

“I really appreciate the friendships I’ve formed with my coworkers and director. We always have a great time together, whether we’re at work or hanging out outside of it. It makes coming to work so much more enjoyable! I’ve also loved the chance to get more involved in the community. It’s been so rewarding to connect with people and play a small part in making a positive impact. These experiences definitely make my role even more meaningful.”

What does a typical day look like for you as the Wellness Coordinator?

“A typical day for me usually involves a lot of marketing, such as creating newsletters, social media posts, taking photos, and more. I also help set up for fitness classes and manage employee tasks, which includes training new hires, posting their schedules, and preparing task lists for upcoming events and rentals. Being at the front desk also means welcoming visitors, giving tours, checking insurance, and signing up new members. With so many programs at the Wellness Center, I’m also busy registering people for everything from events to massages, skincare consultations, personal training, and youth sports. Other than that, I just help Katie out wherever needed. We never really know what projects we’ll end up working on or what’s going on at the facility, so every day is a little different and keeps us on our toes.”

Can you share some of the most rewarding aspects of your role?

“Some of the most rewarding aspects of my role are the personal growth I experience and seeing the Wellness Center thrive. Recently, I received a promotion and transitioned from being the Wellness Center Coordinator to BMC’s Marketing Coordinator, which has allowed me to expand my responsibilities. I love how my role continues to help me develop skills in organization, leadership, and communication. It’s also incredibly fulfilling to be part of a team that’s dedicated to improving the community’s well-being. I admire Katie for all the hard work she puts into coming up with innovative ways to introduce new programs and provide valuable services to our community. Watching the Wellness Center grow and succeed through these efforts is truly rewarding.”

What are some challenges you face in promoting wellness within the community, and how do you overcome them?

“One of the biggest challenges we face in promoting wellness within the community is building awareness. You’d be surprised at how many people in Bibb County don’t even know the Wellness Center exists, let alone the variety of services and programs we offer! We work hard to spread the word by informing everyone who walks in the door and encouraging them to share the information with friends. We also use flyers, the Centreville Press, email and text notifications, our app, and social media to keep people in the loop. It’s a continuous effort, but we’re always finding new ways to get the word out and engage with the community.”

Are there any upcoming wellness programs or initiatives at Bibb Medical Center that you’re particularly excited about?

“I’m really excited about the opening of our playground, pickleball courts, and outdoor basketball court. These additions will offer even more opportunities for the community to stay active and engaged, and I’m looking forward to seeing how they enhance the wellness experience for everyone!”

What is your dream vacation?

“My dream vacation would be staying at a tropical resort, somewhere relaxing with beautiful beaches, clear water, and plenty of sunshine. Of course, it would have to include a spa for the ultimate relaxation experience! I always prefer longer vacations, so a full week in paradise would be perfect for truly unwinding and making the most of the trip.”

What are your long-term goals for wellness programs at Bibb Medical Center, and how do you see them evolving in the future?

“One of my long-term goals for wellness programs at Bibb Medical Center is to continue expanding the services we offer. For example, we recently started a youth fitness class, and I’m excited to see how it grows. My hope is that, over time, we can offer fitness opportunities for people of all ages, making health and wellness accessible to everyone in the community. Another goal is to increase community engagement by building awareness and encouraging more people to get involved with the programs and resources available at the Wellness Center. Ultimately, I want to see these programs not only grow but also remain sustainable so that they can continue to meet the needs of our community for years to come!”

Trinity Burt’s passion for health and wellness extends beyond her job title. Through her dedication to marketing, community outreach, and program development, she continues to help Bibb Medical Center create an inviting and impactful wellness space. Her enthusiasm for fitness, organization, and engagement makes her a valuable asset to the community, ensuring that residents have access to quality wellness programs now and in the future.
