BMC Wellness Expands Campus with Playground, Pickleball Courts, and More

BMC Wellness is thrilled to announce several exciting new additions to its campus, designed to promote health, wellness, and community connection. A brand-new playground is currently under construction, conveniently located next to the BMC Wellness Center along the walking track. Made possible through funding from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), this playground will allow parents to enjoy outdoor exercise while their children play nearby, offering a perfect combination of family fun and fitness. This project is part of BMC’s ongoing commitment to enhancing its campus, which already features an outdoor sensory trail, improved lighting for safety and accessibility, and continuous upgrades to the walking track.

These enhancements reflect BMC’s dedication to fostering a healthier, happier community. Research consistently highlights the link between physical activity and overall well-being, showing that active family leisure time not only improves physical health but also strengthens emotional bonds and creates a more positive family dynamic. For seniors, recreational opportunities support independence and community engagement, further emphasizing the importance of these initiatives. BMC’s mission is to provide opportunities that increase physical activity, reduce sedentary behavior, and improve health and wellness for people of all ages. As the team at BMC says, “Movement is medicine—and when our community is healthy, we all thrive.”

In addition to the playground, BMC Wellness is introducing pickleball courts and a new outdoor basketball court, set to open by early March. Pickleball, a fast-growing sport that combines elements of tennis, ping-pong, and badminton, is accessible to people of all ages and offers numerous health benefits. Playing pickleball improves balance, hand-eye coordination, and flexibility while supporting cardiovascular health and reducing the risk of osteoporosis. It also provides a boost to mental health by reducing stress and improving mood, all while fostering social connections that reduce isolation and build relationships. BMC Wellness members will have free access to the pickleball courts, while community members can enjoy the facilities through a court rental guest pass. Reservations will be easy to make through the BMC Wellness app or website.

To celebrate these exciting developments, BMC Wellness is waiving the $50 enrollment fee for new members throughout January, making it the perfect time to join, get active, and be part of a thriving, healthy community.
