City of Brent City Council

Mayor Bobbie White called the meeting to order at five o’clock and led in the Pledge of Allegiance. Councilperson Tom Owings led in prayer.

A motion to approve the minutes of the June 17, 2024 meeting was made (Owings) and seconded (Conway). Motion carried.
A motion to approve Accounts Payable was made (Owings) and seconded (Morrison). Motion carried.

Request To Address Council:
Lawanda van Horn Rossell – Department of Veterans Affairs (Tuscaloosa VA Medical).
Expressed a strong interest in involving both Brent and Centreville in Community Engagement with disabled veterans.
She stated there are a large number of veterans in Bibb County not receiving benefits. There needs to be assistance provided for suicide prevention. September is suicide prevention month. Saturday, September 14th there will be a county-wide Motorcycle Therapy Event 8:00-12:00 (Warrior Wellness Day) to be held at the Chamber. Cahaba Medical, Bibb Medical, City of Centreville all on board. She is looking at having additional events to involve and benefit our county veterans.

The 2024-2025 Annual Transportation Plan (Rebuild AL Ac) paperwork was signed Council the Mayor and Council members.
Informational Items:
Councilmember Owings brought to the Council the need for BAMA Concrete to clean up area and fill pot holes.
