Janice Hyde McClung, July 7, 1955 – April 10, 2024
Janice “Jan” Sue McClung, (Nana) age 68, of West Blocton, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at her residence. Jan was born in Birmingham, AL to Betty and Bud Hyde on July 7, 1955. She grew up and resided in West Blocton, Alabama. She was the wife of Jerry Glen McClung, they were married on February 14, 1995. She was the mom of three children, Chris McMinn (Tish) of West Blocton, Brian McMinn of West Blocton, Shea Acker (Jason) of West Blocton. She was Nana to five grandchildren, Ashley Sellers (Daniel), Tyler Acker, Madison McMinn, Jared Acker, and Rylee McMinn.
Janice Hyde McClung, lovingly known as “Nana” by her children, grandchildren, and her many honorary grandchildren, left her lifelong home in West Blocton and went to her forever home on Wednesday, April 10. Nana’s favorite poem, “The Dash” says, “What matters is how we live and love and how we spend our dash.” Nana took this to heart and lived and loved abundantly. She made everyone she came across feel like there was no one else in the world she’d rather talk to or spend time with. She will be remembered for many things – her funny habits, her laugh, the memories she shared with her family, but more importantly, she will be known for the way she spent her DASH.
A visitation for Jan will be held Saturday, April 13, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at West Blocton Church of Christ, 21765 Al Hwy 5, West Blocton, AL. A chapel service will occur Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 11:30 AM. A graveside will occur at Mt Carmel.
Serving as pallbearers are Chris McMinn, Jason Acker, Tyler Acker, Jared Acker, Daniel Sellers, Glen Smith, Todd Jones and Jordon Fancher.
