Bibb County High School’s boys and girls indoor track teams recently competed at the state competition, bringing immense pride to their school and community. The student athletes’ dedication on and off the field led to their remarkable achievements, attributing their success to the unwavering support of their families, friends, and community. Both track teams received substantial backing, financially and spiritually, from their community, paving the way for continued growth and triumph. Notable accomplishments include Jacob Simmons and Jordan Goode contributing to the 4×400 State Champs team, with individual accolades in various events. Similarly, members of the girls’ team, like Abbie Downs and Chloe Dukes, showcased remarkable performances in their respective events, setting school records and earning top finishes. Coaches Bobby Terry, Philip Peek, Stephanie Peek, and Nick Belvin played pivotal roles in guiding and nurturing the athletes, emphasizing the collective effort that drove their success. Coach Philip Peek expressed immense pride in the girls’ team and their consistent improvement, foreseeing a bright future for Bibb County Girls Track. Coach Nick Belvin lauded the athletes for their character and ability to overcome challenges, while Coach Bobby Terry commended the program’s growth and the coaches’ dedication.   1. BMC Cares: Brierfield Park Receives TLC

On Thursday, February 16, 2023, Bibb Medical Center staff united at Brierfield Ironworks Historical State Park, extending their community service beyond healthcare facilities. They devoted their time to refurbishing the park, focusing on the playground, pressure washing, cabin cleaning, and painting tasks. Joseph Marchant, BMC’s CEO, expressed the team’s commitment to giving back, emphasizing their representation of BMC in an exemplary manner. The initiative drew admiration from Stephanie Kemmer, BMC Board Member, and Probate Judge, praising BMC’s community-centric approach and their support for Brierfield Ironworks Historical Park. Additionally, Miki Mahan Heaton, Alabama Ironworks Commission Member for Bibb County, acknowledged BMC’s valuable contribution, lauding their dedication and the significant improvements made at the park. BMC encourages everyone to visit and explore Brierfield Ironworks Historical State Park amid these positive transformations.

The Bibb County Schools Foundation (BCSF) disbursed its annual grants to Bibb County School System personnel, awarding twenty grants ranging from $400.00 to $500.00. These grants aimed to enrich the learning experiences and opportunities available to students across the school district. The BCSF expressed gratitude to numerous individuals, businesses, and organizations whose support contributed to this year’s grants, including the Brent Study Club, various insurance agencies such as State Farm Ins. represented by Kevin Hayes and Lee Thompson, local businesses like G & H Building Supply and Liddy’s Office Supplies, community organizations such as the Cahawba Junior Women’s Club and the Brent Civitan Club, and numerous others including Bibb Medical Center, Alabama Power, and Bibb County Farmers Federation. Their generous contributions facilitated the enhancement of educational resources and opportunities for students within the Bibb County School System.
