Bibb County’s Charles Leverette has been named the 2022 inductee into the Alabama Boxing Hall of Fame.Leverette will be inducted in the “Manager/Trainer/Promoter“ category for his outstanding career as a boxing coach.

Originally from Brent, Leverette graduated from Bibb County High School and joined the Army in 1996.  Though he had never boxed before, he proved to be a natural and earned a Bronze medal at the 2004 Olympic Trials.  He later became a trainer and has coached the Army’s World Class Athlete Program (WCAP) to unprecedented heights.  His career has taken him all over the world.

“I’m so honored to be named a Hall of Famer,” said Leverette.  “For a country kid like me from Bibb County, I never thought I’d be doing what I’m doing.  It’s great to be recognized.  I’m extremely proud of where I’m from and can’t wait to come home!”

Leverette has coached multiple USA National boxing teams and served as an assistant coach for the 2012 US Olympic  Boxing Team in London.

The Alabama Boxing Hall of Fame is affiliated with the Alabama State Athletic Commission.  No date has been set for the 2022 induction ceremony.
