The AHSAA will be having their annual North-South Football All-Star Classic on December 18th at 7 p.m. This will be the 62nd edition of the game and will be played at Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile, AL. This is the home stadium of the University of South Alabama.

This year’s game will have a Bibb County flavor to it as the Choctaws will be represented by three of its players along with their head coach, Matt Geohagan.

The three players selected to participate in this year’s game are, Deshun Murrell(running back), Logan Browning(defensive lineman) and Landon Kinard(offensive line), This is a huge honor for all of these guys in having been selected to play in such a prestigious game.

Deshun Murrell

Deshun Murrell is a highly decorated running back who ended his career with the all time school record for touchdowns. He was a member of the 2019 Tuscaloosa Super 11 team. He was a first team 5a All State running back as a junior. He was selected as the 33/40 player of the week as a junior and followed that up with a FOX 6 MVP of the week his senior year.

Murrell is being recruited by over 40 schools and will announce his decision on what school he will attend at 10 am on the 18th. Due to injuries he will not be able to participate in the game. Deshun is the son of Keundra Murrell and plans on majoring in architecture and engineering management.

Logan Browning

Logan Browning is a two year starter at defensive end and really turned it up late this year as he recorded several games in which he had double digit tackles. Browning led the teams in both sacks and fumble recoveries.

Logan has several schools interested in him.

Logan is the son of Mike and Darla Browning and he plans on becoming an athletic trainer or maybe even becoming a teacher so he can coach after he graduates from college.

Landon Kinard

Landon Kinard is a three year starter at left tackle for the Choctaws. Landon played a huge role in opening up holes for Murrell and other running backs to rack up yards. During his time as a starter, the Choctaws averaged over 258 yards rushing a game. Landon is one of the creators of the Hawg Squad, which is what the Choctaws offensive line is affectionately called.

Landon is the son of Janie Kinard and Kevin Kinard. He has already been accepted to the University of Alabama where he plans on receiving his degree in the engineering field.

Coach Geo

Coach Geohagan just finished up his sixth season at the helm at BibbCounty. In his 6 years he has amassed a 56-18 record which makes him the 3rd winningest coach in school history. The Choctaws have made it to the playoffs in each of his six seasons. The Choctaws have been to the third round in three of those seasons.

I spoke to coach Geohagan and he had this to say,” I know I speak for the players as well as myself when I say that we are very humbled to be selected to the North-South All-Star game. We are thankful for this great opportunity to represent our program, school, and our community. Since we all share in this recognition, we do not take lightly our responsibility to represent Bibb County well. Along with their teammates, Landon, Deshun, and Logan hold themselves to a high standard daily. It makes me proud to see their hard work and effort being rewarded.”

The Choctaw nation would like to congratulate all of these guys on being selected to participate in this game. It is such a huge honor and we are proud of each and every one of you.

Best of luck in not only the game, but also as you move forward to your next stage in life.
