A crowd of co-workers,  friends and family turned out in Centreville today as John Downs accepted a plaque from Alabama Power Company honoring his 45 years of service to the local community and ceremonially turned in his keys, retiring from his long held post as local Business Service Manager.

John Downs started to work for Alabama Power Company as an 18 year old in 1974. He said that he started out as a lineman and then worked his way into management and for the last years of his career he managed the local operations for Bibb County.
