Local Hospital Executive Elected to Board of Trustees

MONTGOMERY, AL – Joseph Marchant, president and chief executive officer of the Bibb County Health Care Authority, was elected to another term as a member of the board of the Alabama Hospital Association (AlaHA).

“Joseph has been a strong leader in the Association for many years,” said Donald E. Williamson, MD, president of the Alabama Hospital Association. “He has provided exceptional leadership, particularly on issues related to care in rural areas.”

Prior to his appointment to CEO in 2011, Marchant served as both the assistant administrator and chief operating officer of the Bibb County Health Care Authority. 

Marchant has served AlaHA in various leadership positions on many committees and task forces, including serving as chairman of the state legislative committee, West Council president, finance committee, physician workforce task force, price transparency workgroup, federal legislative and regulatory committee, and future directions committee.  

Marchant has extensive experience in various types of health care facilities, including rural health clinics, community hospitals and long-term care retirement communities. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and is a licensed long-term care administrator by the State of Alabama Board of Examiners of Nursing Home Administrators. 

Founded in 1921, the Alabama Hospital Association is a statewide trade organization that assists member hospitals in effectively serving the health care needs of Alabama, through advocacy, representation, education and service.
