Mike Oakley, a well known leader of the Bibb County community has been selected by the Community Foundation of West Alabama as a member of the 2019 class of Pillars of West Alabama. This symbol of distinction is given annually to those who have positively impacted the lives of the people of West Alabama. He will be recognized during the annual meeting of the CFWA on June 20 at the Indian Hills Country Club in Tuscaloosa.

Glenn Taylor, President and CEO of the Community Foundation provided us with the following information about the Pillars program. “This is the 16th year for us to recognize the Pillars of West Alabama. Our footprint covers 9 counties in West Alabama and we really strive to reach out to the other counties for honorees. Mike was nominated by the Bibb County Chamber of Commerce. He was a very worthy nominee and was selected by our Pillars committee and approved by the Board of Directors. This is a very prestigious honor as you may observe by visiting our website and taking a look at previous honorees.”

“Others to be honored on June 20 are Dr. George Denny, Dr. George Miller, Mrs. Anne Moman, Mr. Bob Monfore, and Dr. Karen Thompson. The Board seeks to honor those who have served their community and contributed to improving the lives of the citizens in West Alabama. They are especially interested in honoring those who have done this separate and apart from their normal jobs. Areas such as charitable causes, church work, volunteer work, etc. is always important to our selection committee. Of course, the nomination process is open to the public and can be done through our website.

CONGRATULATIONS MIKE OAKLEY from your friends at THE BIBB VOICE!
