The Central Alabama Regional Child Advocacy Center is celebrating Child Abuse Prevention Month in a big way this year! Not only will we continue the tradition of “Planting a Pinwheel Garden” to honor 345 children involved in child abuse investigations last year, we are proud to announce the opening of the long-awaited Bibb County CAC Satellite Office! The new office is located at 183 S.W. Davidson Drive in Centreville, adjacent to the Rock Building. The CAC invites all citizens to join us to plant pinwheels at 4:30 p.m., on Tuesday, April 25, 2017. A ribbon cutting and open house will follow, highlighted by tours of the new facility.

Child Abuse Prevention Month has been observed each April since 1981 to raise awareness that all children deserve to grow up in a happy and healthy environment. The pinwheels, nationally recognized as a symbol for the month, will be “planted” at the new CAC Office and will remain in place through the end of the month. Bibb County will join thousands of other communities across our nation who are putting children first and working to promote the prevention of child abuse and neglect. Shining in the sun, the pinwheel is reflective of the bright future all children deserve.

The Central Alabama Regional Child Advocacy Center serves five counties in the Blackbelt region, with the highest number of interview requests being made for Bibb County children. The convenient location of this new Center will reduce travel time and expenses for families, DHR workers and law enforcement and will be staffed on an as needed basis by the well-trained personnel of the central office in Selma.

Please join us at 4:30 p.m. on April 25, 2017 at the 183 S.W. Davidson Drive in Centreville and be a part of this exciting event. The Central Alabama Regional Child Advocacy Center joins with the Bibb County Department of Human Resources, local law enforcement and the District Attorney’s office to serve abused children in Bibb County. The Pinwheel Garden Planting event will continue be held annually to remember the victims in the county.
