Fire is jumping fire breaks and and fire command is requesting additional units. Additional tankers are being requested. Units from Bibb County are being requested.

Fire units are being deployed in order to protect houses that are in danger from large woods fire which has extended out for 1/4 to 1/2 mile for the location of gas explosion.

A few moments ago a large woods fire forced the evacuation of firefighting personnel from River Road area where gas explosion occurred earlier today.

Fire departments from across the Birmingham area are responding to a report of a gas line explosion in the Helena area, according to social media reports.
According to public safety radio reports, six people were severely burned are will be flown to UAB Hospital.
The explosion was reported to be in the area of River Road and highway 13.
