Bibb County Circuit Judge Marvin Wiggins is preparing this week to hear the scheduled trial of the Mayoral election challenge on Friday, May 15.

The party attorneys appeared before the court Monday morning to allege there has been a failure to produce certain vote documents in preparation for trial. It was alleged that the City Clerk had failed to produce the voter sign in sheet(s) from voting day last Fall.

City Clerk Tracy Griffin testified on Monday that she had provided all of the requested documents that were contained in the sealed election materials container that had previously been ordered opened by the court in the presence of designated witnesses. At the close of the hearing Monday Judge Wiggins entered an order to open an additional voting material box in the presence of designated witnesses, in search of the voter sign in sheet(s). At the end of yesterday the remaining boxes from City Hall were opened and the voter sign in sheets were not found. It remains to be seen how the court will respond to this discovery.

The attorney representing Challenger Mike Oakley said that he expects testimony on Friday from his witnesses and expects to take the full day for that presentation, on Friday. The election trial is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. on May 15.
