Barry Cooner Declared Winner of Centreville Mayor Election Contest

Following the Tuesday election on August 26 the race for Mayor between Incumbent Mike Oakley and Challenger Barry Cooner, ended in a tie vote. Each party received 326 votes.
Today the City Council met at noon to certify the election results. Tracy Griffin, City Clerk, announced that 10 provisional votes had been examined by County Registrar Pat Clark and the Board of Registrars. Four of those votes were eligible to be counted.
After examining the ballots and announcing the new vote totals Barry Cooner garnered 329 votes and Mike Oakley 327.
The City Council certified the results in all races except District 3, which is headed to a runoff between Linda Lawrence and Reese Lee. The runoff election will take place on September 23, 2025.
Don Mack is the elected candidate for District 2, Dianne Epperson is elected for District 4.
