John Franklin Blake was born on October 26, 1942, in McCalla, Alabama, to John T. Blake, Jr. and Lucille Lawrence Blake. He grew up in Bibb County, Alabama, with his younger brother, Glenn Edward Blake, Sr.  John lived a life surrounded by family and loved ones, eventually marrying Anne Walker Blake, with whom he shared over 58 years of his life. Together, they had a son, and a lineage of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who cherished him deeply.

Throughout his life, John was known for his devotion to his family and his faith. He lived with the awareness of his mortality and had specific requests regarding his final arrangements, including cremation.   On June 1, 2024, John passed away peacefully at his home from natural causes,  surrounded by the family that loved him dearly. He was 81. His legacy lives on through the countless memories and the love shared by his family.

Survivors include his loving wife, Anne and son, John Bryan Blake, (wife Cindy); grandson, John Garrett Blake; granddaughter Eryn Blake; and great grandchildren, Matthew, Brystyl and Jordyn;  a brother, Glenn Edward Blake, Sr.(wife Ginger); one surviving uncle, Virgil Lawrence (wife Kate) of Centreville, Alabama;  three brothers-in-law, Earl R. Roberts (wife Joyce) of Lincolnton, North Carolina; and from Piedmont, Alabama, Paul Roberts (wife Marlene); David Roberts (wife Vicky); sister-in-law, Martha Roberts Mayhall; and several nieces and nephews and a number of cousins.
