Calling all curious little minds and proud parents! Bibb County Head Start is rolling out the red carpet for its next group of bright stars — and your child could be one of them!

Bibb County Head Start is now accepting applications for the 2025 school year for children ages 3 to 5 years old. Located at 1006 Walnut Street in Centreville, AL, the program offers a wide range of no-cost services that promote school readiness and support families through a holistic approach to early childhood education.

Head Start is more than just a preschool — it’s a comprehensive early education program designed to empower children and their families. Through individualized educational services, Bibb County Head Start builds strong relationships that lay the foundation for learning. The curriculum supports learning through play, creative expression, and guided activities while fostering language, literacy, early math and science concepts, and positive attitudes toward learning.

All services are provided completely free of charge to families and include:

  • Individualized educational services
  • Mental health services
  • Health, dental, hearing, vision, and behavioral screenings
  • Developmental screenings
  • Family coaching and support
  • Educational activities and field trips
  • Healthy meals and snacks (breakfast, lunch, and snacks)
  • Accommodations for children with special needs

In addition, the program promotes physical development with both indoor and outdoor activities, and partners with community agencies for additional assessments when needed. Bibb County Head Start also supports families in finding assistance during challenging times and reaching goals related to parenting, employment, food, housing, and more.

Bibb County Head Start participates in Alabama’s Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS), a partnership between the Alabama Department of Human Resources and the Alabama Department of Early Childhood Education. The program has earned a STAR 5 rating — the highest possible — by demonstrating consistent, high-quality teacher-child interactions, sound business practices, and strong internal mentorship for continuous improvement.

Applications can be submitted online at www.cspwal.com. Spots are limited, so families are encouraged to apply early.
