Bankhead District Meeting
February 1, 2025
The Amelia Gayle Gorgas Chapter 2117 hosted the Bankhead District Meeting on February 1, 2025, in Northport, AL. All chapters in our district were represented. 48 UDC members registered for the meeting. State officers attended as guests: Cyndi Himes, Division President; Susan Dooley, Vice President; Lori Adams, Division Historian; Wanda Bowen, Division Chaplain; Linda Barton, Honorary Division President; and Linda Edwards, past Division President and past President General.
Leigh Bearden, Director, led the meeting. The program was about “Being a UDC Daughter.” This was followed by workshops for learning about the various aspects of the organization. Especially helpful were the experienced officers who spoke about their respective offices and their duties, e.g., Historian, etc. Games and laughter complemented the occasion. Gifts, favors, awards, and prizes just added to the celebration.
And of course, there was the delicious food prepared by the host chapter.
But the flavor and favor of the mealtime extended much further than “food” alone. Tables were often themed, e.g., “daughters” who served as historians in their chapter set at the table with the State Historian. In this informal setting, learning came easily and friendships quickly.
