Celebrate the Blooms at the 2025 Cahaba Lily Festival – May 17
By Savannah Logan
Mark your calendars for a beloved West Blocton tradition! The 2025 Cahaba Lily Festival returns on Saturday, May 17 at the Cahaba Lily Center. This annual event honors the stunning and rare Cahaba lily, a Southern treasure that blooms for just a few short weeks each spring.
Registration begins at 8:00 a.m., followed by a morning program starting at 9:00 a.m. A highlight of the event is the keynote presentation by Dr. Larry Davenport, a biology professor at Samford University and the widely recognized authority on the Cahaba lily. His talk, “Romancing the Lilies,” has become a festival favorite — both informative and entertaining for all who attend.
The festival offers fun and learning for all ages. Enjoy presentations from environmental groups, browse local vendors, and let the kids explore the children’s play area. A delicious lunch will be served inside the Cahaba Lily Center.
For those wanting to experience the lilies up close, canoe rentals are available for $10 per person after lunch. These self-guided trips offer a breathtaking view of the lilies in bloom along the river. Please note that signal is unreliable in the area. While cards are accepted, it’s best to bring cash or check to ensure a smooth experience.
