Living River to Hold You & Me Retreat on the Cahaba
By Sheila Duncan
Spring is a season of renewal, making it the perfect time to take a break from the daily routine and enjoy a meaningful retreat with your family. Living River, a scenic camp and conference center in Central Alabama affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, is set to host the You & Me Retreat on the Cahaba from April 11-13.
Located at 2000 Living River Parkway in Montevallo, AL, and just a 45-minute drive from Centreville, Living River offers a beautiful setting along the Cahaba River, perfect for relaxation, learning, and adventure.
The You & Me Retreat is an ideal getaway for young campers and first-timers. Children aged 4 years to 2nd grade, along with a trusted adult, are invited to share this enriching experience. The retreat is designed to foster quality family time, outdoor exploration, and spiritual growth in a supportive and welcoming environment.
Participants will enjoy an exciting Night Sky Program led by the UAB Astronomy Club, providing a chance to gaze at the stars and learn about the wonders of the universe. In addition, families will have the opportunity to contribute to the Living River vegetable garden, an activity that blends environmental stewardship with hands-on learning.
The retreat will also feature inspirational keynote lessons by Rev. Ruth Aimee Belonni-Rosario Govens, the Associate Dean of Academic Success and Retention at Stillman College. Her insights will encourage meaningful reflection and connection.
The retreat will conclude by 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, ensuring families have time to return home for Palm Sunday celebrations.
