Fire at AmeriGas Facility Quickly Contained Thanks to Rapid Response

On Friday, March 28, at 2:28 p.m., the Centreville Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire at the AmeriGas facility on Belcher Street. Brent Fire Department provided automatic aid, along with Brierfield Volunteer Fire & Rescue, West Blocton Fire & Rescue, and other county departments.
Upon arrival, crews found a large fire with multiple propane tank explosions on-site. Firefighters quickly assessed the situation, devised a plan, and worked together to contain the blaze. Thanks to their rapid response and coordination, the fire was brought under control efficiently.
The state fire marshal’s office is currently investigating the incident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and all employees safely evacuated.
We extend our appreciation to the Bibb County Emergency Management Agency, Centreville Police Department, Brent Police Department, Bibb County Sheriff’s Department – Alabama, AmServ EMS, Alabama Power, BMC Wellness, and Bibb Medical Center for their assistance during the emergency.
Thankfully, the situation did not escalate further, and no one was harmed. Notably, prior to this event, all county departments conducted a walk-through, scene evaluation, and emergency planning exercise, which likely contributed to the successful response.
