The Second Annual New Year’s Celebration on the evening of December 28th went great! The rain held off until after the event ended which we were all grateful for and despite the weather concerns we still had a good turnout of about 140 attendees, of which around 10 were children and they had a great time as well. As guests arrived, Austin Brooks opened for the event and warmed up the crowd. Zach Guffey Band really made the event, they brought a huge set up with them and played a wide variety of rock and country songs that got the crowd up and dancing. The delicious food was provided by Bibb Medical Center. People were going back for seconds; they loved the food so much.

Director for Centreville Mainstreet Katie Cheslock says, “Thank you to Bibb Medical Center for providing the food for our event! We also want to thank those who supported us and purchased VIP Tables: G&H Building Supply, the City of Centreville, Bibb County Commission, The Oaks, Adventure Shoals, Alfa Insurance, J&S Drugs, Senator April Weaver and Centreville Press.”

The event went smoothly, and everyone had a great time. People from our community, nearby counties, and even local officials joining in. Beyond raising funds for revitalization and beautification efforts, the event focused on bringing people together. It was heartwarming to see everyone enjoying good food, dancing, and celebrating the bright future ahead for our city in 2025. The event showcased what’s possible here and proved that fun, family-friendly gatherings can happen in our community.

Katie said, “People were already asking when the next event would be. It was exciting to see so many new faces, especially those who hadn’t attended previous Main Street events. It’s clear we’re reaching a larger audience since we started in June 2023, and we’re thrilled about the progress! “A lot of behind the scenes work went into this event, from planning, to setting up, to renovating and cleaning the Bank Building, our board and volunteers devoted over 400 hours of volunteer time, and we could not be more grateful for each and everyone who helped make this event a success. We will hope for better weather next year and continue on with more fun and community engaging events in the near future, all to invest in the future of our great city.
