Beverly Belcher Scroggins
September 24, 1945 – December 31, 2024
Beverly Belcher Scroggins passed away on December 31, 2024, twelve days after the passing of her husband, William Franklin Scroggins. Her life was centered on faith, family, and a commitment to serving her church and community.
Beverly grew up in Centreville, Alabama, and attended Samford University, where she majored in music and was honored as Miss Samford. She later pursued postgraduate studies at the University of Alabama.
She and William raised five children, Heather Larson (Gary), Scott Scroggins (Anna), Valori Clemens (Paul), Will Scroggins (Caroline), and Jesse Scroggins (Hannah), and treasured their 26 grandchildren.
Beverly was a partner in her husband’s ministry work, contributing to marriage enrichment through Dynamic Marriage courses and JH Outback weekends. She helped William shape the early vision of what is now the Tuscaloosa Pastors Network.
Beverly had a deep passion for her family and viewed nurturing those relationships as her most important calling. Her grandchildren called her “Nana.” Many days, she could be found playing games, reading, or singing to her grandchildren. She had a beautiful voice – always humming a tune or singing a song. One of her favorite songs to sing was “Blue Skies” by Irving Berlin.
Beverly’s siblings, Olon Belcher, Otha Belcher, Jan Queen, and Brent Belcher, survive her.
The family invites donations in Beverly’s memory to:
- Tuscaloosa Pastors Network, furthering the mission she and William supported.
- World Outreach Ministries, in support of her grandson Job Franklin Scroggins, who will be serving as a missionary pilot with Wycliffe Bible Translators.
- JH Outback ministry: Weekend events that are life-changing experiences that help people strengthen their most important relationships.
A joint memorial service for Beverly and William will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Grace Church, 2112 Hargrove E. Rd., Tuscaloosa, AL. Visitation will take place from 3–4 p.m., with the service beginning at 4 p.m.
The gravesite committal service will be Friday, January 10, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo.
Beverly’s life will be remembered for her passion for her family, her faith, and the love she showed to all who knew her.
