West Blocton Celebrates the Season with Annual Christmas Parade
By Savannah Logan
The Town of West Blocton brought the holiday spirit to life on December 14, 2024, with its annual Christmas Parade. A fantastic community turnout made the event one to remember, as friends, families, and neighbors gathered to celebrate the season together.
This year’s Grand Marshal was none other than Rick Karle of Rick Karle’s Good News. His presence brought an extra touch of excitement and joy to the festive occasion.
The celebration also honored Terrill Nelson as the 2024 Citizen of the Year. Nelson was recognized for his lifelong dedication to bettering the West Blocton community, one helping hand at a time. While accepting the award, Nelson shared, “Why would anyone want to live anywhere else other than West Blocton?” He added that he was “humbled and honored” to receive such recognition. The whole town would surely agree that this award was well deserved.
The festivities continued with the announcement of the 2024 Christmas House Decoration Contest winners as well as parade float winners as well, showcasing the community’s holiday spirit and creativity:
1st Place: Kim & Andy Johnson
2nd Place: Tammy & Gary Donner
3rd Place: Cindy Miller
The parade float winners are as follows:
1st Place: Miss Cahaba Lily
2nd Place: Shairon’s Salon
3rd Place: Lowerytown Baptist Church
The Town of West Blocton once again proved that it is a place where community pride and holiday cheer shine brightly!
