Bibb County Schools Foundation Awards Over $15,000 in Grants to Support Education

The Bibb County Schools Foundation, Inc. (BCSF) continues its mission to enhance education throughout Bibb County Schools. With the leadership of its Board of Directors—President Stephanie Kemmer, Vice President Willie Dunn, Secretary Donna Brothers, Treasurer-Ex Officio Kevin Cotner, and Assistant Treasurer Jan Jamison—along with board members Vickie Brown, Karen Burklew, Mallory Cargile, Donna Cook, Kayla Cooner, Joyce Crews, Donna Elam, Radonna Henderson, Karen Hubbard, Joseph Marchant, Karen Peak, Camille Gibson, Fran Kornegay, Nikki May, Barbara Suttle, and Janice Blake, the Foundation has awarded 36 grants totaling $15,685.90 for 2024. These grants support innovative projects and essential resources across the district’s schools.
At Brent Elementary School (BES), Dara Fondren received $389.05 for reading and math fluency station supplies, Petra Hunter was awarded $315.00 for wobble stools, and Autumn Smith secured $100.00 for seat sacks for her classroom. Marla Suttle received $400.00 for flag football equipment, Susan Young was awarded $500.00 for a 3rd-5th grade ACAP incentive field trip, and Teresa Morrison received $500.00 for first aid kits and medical supplies. Randolph Elementary School (RES) recipients included Hailey Bice, who was awarded $455.02 for counting collection resources; Tori Hatfield, who received $500.00 for materials supporting hearing-impaired students; Jill McMillan, who secured $500.00 for a 9 Square in the Air Deluxe Package; and Darlene Skinner, who received $495.60 for math manipulatives.
West Blocton Elementary School (WBES) educators also benefited from the Foundation’s generosity. Dianna Bush received $149.98 for wipebooks (also benefitting WBMS), Katie Penny was awarded $478.00 for an iPad and Apple Pencil, and Lauren Pierson and Kim Brundage secured $499.18 for second-grade learning center supplies. Additional WBES recipients included Tori Pierson, who received $350.00 for classroom library books, and Cassandra Rutledge, who was awarded $500.00 for sports equipment including footballs, basketballs, and dodge balls. At Woodstock Elementary School (WES), Kristin Lightsey received $500.00 for student attendance incentives, Jessica Jo Guy secured $500.00 for library-bound biography books, Peggy Vick was awarded $500.00 for materials for math toolkits, and Ann Elam received $500.00 for medical and office supplies.
At Centreville Middle School (CMS), Kara Hudson received $500.00 for a document camera and book set, Charity Jaspering was awarded $500.00 for book sets for reading groups, and Ashlynn Partridge secured $248.55 for “I Survived” book sets for book clubs. West Blocton Middle School (WBMS) recipients included William Crawford and Stephanie Smith, who were each awarded $460.00 for Pocketalk devices to support multilingual learning, Janet Morris, who received $500.00 for classroom library books, and Lynn Lee, who was awarded $400.00 for tourniquet kits and emergency supplies.
At Bibb County High School (BCHS), Kecia Alston received $489.97 for pickleball equipment, Coty Geohagan was awarded $500.00 for artistic exhibition materials, Cody Sellers secured $500.00 for a virtual-reality headset and history-based activities, and Madison Murphy received $492.75 for a treatment table and emergency supplies. West Blocton High School (WBHS) recipients included Jeff Clark, who was awarded $500.00 for dissolved oxygen kits, Angela Lint, who received $200.00 for sensory room furniture and functional task boxes, Timothy Stringer, who was awarded $302.80 for Algebra I instructional resources, and Jake Vick, who secured $500.00 for physical education equipment. At Bibb County Career Academy (BCCA), Darel McKinney received $500.00 for materials and equipment for electrical technology. District-wide, Mandy Nix was awarded $500.00 for medical supplies for BCCA and the Bibb County Alternative School.
Through the dedication of its board and generous sponsorships, the Bibb County Schools Foundation continues to foster educational growth and innovation. These grants provide students and teachers with the tools they need to thrive, totaling an impressive $15,685.90 in support for 2024.
