Trustmark Bank: Celebrating 135 Years of Service and Community Commitment

On Thursday, Nov. 14 Trustmark Bank celebrated 135 years of service. The bank’s history extends back to 1889 with the establishment of the Jackson Bank. After building a statewide banking franchise in Mississippi, and through many years of growth and expansion, Trustmark has broadened its footprint into Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and Texas. Trustmark’s success is a direct reflection of the confidence their customers have placed in them, so they celebrated this milestone anniversary with their customers during the day with refreshments, giveaways and door prizes.
Teresa Averette is the Branch Manager here in Bibb County and has been with Trustmark for 25 years. Teresa shared saying “I guess the biggest change in progress would be the technology and all the different things that are available in that area. Things like ITM, which is an ATM with an interactive live person during certain working hours. Due to this, the live agent can cash checks right up to the penny or do withdrawals with identification even when you may not have your debit card with you. So, this is certainly enhanced from the prior ATM years. Online banking has certainly improved with being able to have all your accounts at your fingertips, including loans and credit cards which can be paid online easily. You can open accounts online or apply for loans online as well. Having all accounts available online in one place is much more convenient. Some branches can also issue debit cards on sight at account opening or if a card is lost and needs to be replaced. While this is not available at all locations, more areas do have at least one location in proximity with this capability. Another area that Trustmark offers growth in is the area of wealth management and investment services that Trustmark has available. More recently we have added appointment scheduling where the customer can select the location/services needed and actually schedule an appointment time that works for them. These are not traditional banking services offered by traditional banks as we have known them in the past. These types of services really open the possibilities for customers to have all their banking/financing/investment needs in one location. Trustmark has a large variety of services that are not typically offered by all financial institutions, and this really does enhance convenience.”
