18-Wheeler Accident Shuts Down Part of Highway 5 in Brent

Early Saturday morning around 3 a.m., the Brent Volunteer Fire Department responded to an accident on Highway 5 near the bridges by Bethel Baptist Church involving an 18-wheeler. The crash led to road closures, and traffic was rerouted for the remainder of the day. Many responders stayed on site from 3 a.m. until approximately 11 p.m.
McKinney Wrecker had crews present from 1 a.m., coordinating efforts alongside other teams to restore power and phone lines, and to facilitate the transfer of the tanker’s contents to a new vehicle. Numerous individuals helped direct traffic and managed the scene. Remarkably, the driver walked away from the incident with only minor cuts and bruises.
