It Takes a Village to Raise a Child

In a few days area children will be returning to school.  Many will be lacking necessary school supplies to support their learning experience.  In an effort to bridge that gap, on July 13, 2024, members of Word of Faith Church gathered in the church fellowship hall for the distribution of over 200 backpacks filled with school supplies.  This exciting event was organized by the Youth Department and Church Administrator.

The excitement was indeed palpable.  The children (and parents) were grateful for this assistance in a time when finances can be stretched thin.  The photos are evidence of that with the bright, smiling faces and that annual excitement that getting ready for school brings.

Word of Faith (formerly Purity Holiness Church of God}, has been a viable part of our community for over 47 years.  With an active membership of approximately 50, Pastor Dr. Bernard Steele, ably assisted by Co-Pastor, Dr. Alice Steele; Assistant Pastor, Elder Larry Lilly; Youth Minister, Elder Greg Robertson; and Youth Director, Sister Pam Moore work together to “walk the walk”.  These dedicated folks take the response Jesus gave in Matthew 25:40 seriously when said to His followers: “The King will answer them, ‘Truly I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’”

For these children there will be a bright beginning for their school year.  For these church members they will hear, “Well done, my good and faithful servant”.
