Head Cheer Coach – Melissa Manning

Cahawba Christian School is thrilled to announce the start of a new academic year with the addition of new staff member, Head Coach John Harris. This year’s hire brings experience, innovative ideas, and a shared passion for fostering academic excellence and spiritual growth within the student body.

This new staff member joins an already dedicated team, enhancing Cahawba Christian’s commitment to providing a nurturing and challenging educational environment. Each new hire brings unique skills and fresh perspectives that will undoubtedly contribute to the school’s mission of cultivating well-rounded, Christ-centered individuals.

Extracurricular activities like cheering in a Christian school play a crucial role in fostering teamwork, discipline, and school spirit while providing students with opportunities to express their faith and build a strong community.

Cahawba Christian Academy has appointed Melissa Manning as the new Cheer Coach for the young ladies at Cahawba Christian, where she will also be teaching the 5K class. At 33 years old, Melissa is married to Zachery Manning, and together they have four children and live in Vance, AL. She is enthusiastic about starting her new role and getting involved with the students.

Melissa will be assisted by Hannah Gibson, a daycare staff member who will serve as the Assistant Cheer Coach. The cheer team will comprise young ladies from preschool to senior ages, with the younger girls forming the pep squad and the older girls joining the cheer squad.

Melissa aims to increase interest and participation in cheerleading and football among the girls. She is eager to engage in community events that will allow the girls to build character, have fun, and serve as role models. Future plans include organizing fundraisers and seeking sponsorships to help cover the costs of uniforms and other necessities for the cheer squad.

Melissa shared, “These girls are the Hands and Feet of Jesus, and I want to help them grow with modesty, prayer, and involve Christ in their daily lives.”
