Bibb County Sheriff Jody Wade confirmed the shooting deaths of a 24 year old mother of two, her two minor children, and two other minor children that were her relatives. The shooting occurred at the home of Brandon Kendrick on Thursday evening, July 18, 2024. The first emergency calls were received at the 911 office around 8:30 p.m. when officers were dispatched to 1073 Greentree Drive in the West Blocton area.

As officers arrived on the scene,  they discovered a gruesome and heart wrenching scene. Two of the victims, the mother and one child, were transported for emergency care but did not survive.

Brandon Allan Kendrick II, age 32, is charged with killing his 24 y/o wife, Kelse Kendrick, along with the 4 minor children. Kendrick remained on the scene when officers arrived and surrendered peacefully. He is presently housed in the Bibb County jail without bond and charged with five counts of capital murder. The 5 victims were all brutally shot in the head with a 9mm handgun.

Sheriff Jody Wade said that Brandon Kendrick was the father of two of the children, and the other two were relatives. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said a 2-year-old, two 6-year-olds and a 9-year-old were killed in the shooting.

“It’s absolutely horrible. It’s unimaginable what the family is going through, what the friends of the family are experiencing, what the community is feeling right now,” Wade said “It was just a horrific scene that even seasoned officers told me it is the worst thing they’ve ever seen.

A GoFundMe account to cover funeral expenses has been established by Elijah Morrow, a family relative.
