It was a hot summer day- but well worth it!
Autism Support Group met Saturday, June 22, 2024 at BMC recreational fields with local first responders, and together a fun day was held with those on the spectrum.
Participates enjoyed playing ball, playing a game of soccer with local law enforcement and firefighters. A friendly game of competition was held between the law enforcement and the fire fighters ending with a tie.
The kids enjoyed interacting with the law enforcement, firefighters and of course the fire trucks. A surprise visitor joined in the fun too. Mr. Pig from the Brent Piggly Wiggly.
The fun day wouldn’t have been possible without Bibb County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Ned Underwood, Deputies Kenneth Poole and Deputy Eddie Wehrenberg, Brent Police Department Assistant Chief of Police Chris Farr and Officer Michael Pate, Brent Fire Department, Brent Piggly Wiggly, Bibb Medical Center Wellness Center, Kaye Culp, Bibb County High School students Layla Chapman and Layton Smith, Bibb Correctional Facility’s support staff Sharon Chapman and Ryan Thompson.
Autism Support Group meets each month with a guest speaker and an activity for those on the spectrum. Plans are being made in hosting a fall festival for those on the spectrum. If you would like to join the fun by setting up a game or trunk or treats or would like more information on Autism Support Group please reach out to Kaye Culp at culpkaye@gmail.com or Ryan Thompson at ryanaliciathompson36@gmail.com.
