Jamie Horton and Larry Dale Clark have been leading an inspiring initiative to support the young athletes of Bibb County High School Softball Program. Over the past few months, they have spearheaded the effort to establish an Indoor Hitting Facility for our local softball team. This ambitious project is motivated by the growing number of girls participating in our local park’s little league. A robust little league today will translate into a stronger high school team tomorrow, creating better opportunities for our athletes to succeed both on and off the field.
Why This Project Matters
The heart of this initiative is to provide a state-of-the-art facility that will serve as a cornerstone for the development of our softball players. The goal is to build a 45’x65’x14’ structure. Fully furnished with school colors and logos throughout, the inside of the facility will feature two 12’x55’ hitting nets and two 43’ pitching lanes. This will offer a professional and motivating environment for the young athletes to hone their skills.
By investing in this facility, one is investing in the future of our young athletes. The goal is to prepare our girls for success, not just in softball, but in life. Sports teach invaluable lessons in teamwork, perseverance, and discipline. By providing them with the best possible resources, they are being set up for a brighter future.
The Path to Success
The journey began with the formation of the Bibb County High School Softball Booster Club. Last Thursday, the club was officially established, and an account was set up to start receiving funds. Recently the school board approved the booster club to raise all the necessary funds and oversee the construction of the facility.
Currently, they have $1,000 in the account, leaving them with $159,000 to reach their goal. Thanks to generous donations, they have completed the building drawings and the design for the foundations, structural, and electrical components, which have been submitted to an architect for approval.
The feedback so far has been overwhelmingly positive. Many community members have made financial commitments, demonstrating strong support for this project. They have set a target completion date of October 1st, and with your help, we can make this dream a reality.
