Special to the Press
Each year National Correctional Officer’s Week and National Nurse’s week is celebrated nationwide to honor those unsung heroes. Bibb Correctional Facility (CF) joined the celebration this year by honoring staff May 6-11, 2024.
Employees were treated with a HOLLYWOOD theme. Correctional Officer’s names were placed on stars lining the floor entrance, honoring each officer for their dedication to the Alabama Department of Corrections.
A luncheon was held Tuesday and Wednesday. Staff were treated to delicious food, fellowship, and door prizes. Cahaba Early Learning, Bright Beginnings, and Cahawba Christian students made homemade cards to show support and appreciation for the Correctional Officers and staff.
On Wednesday, staff had special guest visits from City of Brent Mayor Bobbie White, City of Centreville Mayor Mike Oakley, Brent Chief of Police Karl McMillan, Assistant Chief of Police Chris Farr, Woodstock Police Chief Len Price, and Assistant Chief of Police Jason Beams. Bibb Correctional Facility Warden Christopher Gordy said, “It is important to note that it takes every branch of law-enforcement working together to achieve a better and safer Bibb County.”
This event would not have been possible without the amazing support staff, skillful nurses, excellent supervisors, and dedicated team of Correctional Officers at Bibb CF. Special thanks go to the following businesses that donated to the appreciation events: Bibb Medical Center, The Centreville Press, J&S Drugs, J-9’s, First United Security Bank, Bibb County Sav-A-Life, Norris Chiropractic, Brent-Centreville Public Library, Cahaba Dental, and Bama Direct.
