Sam Flemon Burnett, Jr, aged 97, died Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Aspire, Hoover. He was born May 11, 1926, to parents Sam F. Burnett Sr. and Mae Scott Burnett in Randolph, Alabama.
He is survived by a daughter, Peggy Burnett, and six loved nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 71 years, Maureen Crocker Burnett, brothers Charles, MC, and Grady Burnett and sisters Margie Burnett and Willie Funderburke.
Sam retired as an electrician at US Steel after more than 40 years and was a member of Shades Crest Baptist Church. Although he lived in the Birmingham area for more than 70 years, his heart remained in Bibb County. Nothing made him happier than recalling the people, places and events of his youth there.
Services will be Monday, November 13, 2023, at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, Hoover. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m.to 11:00 a.m. with service beginning at 11:00.
