The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency released the following press statement this morning, December 7, regarding this incident:

BIBB COUNTY – On Sunday, Dec. 3, at the request of the Woodstock Police Department, Special Agents with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) launched an investigation concerning an officer involved shooting, which occurred in Woodstock. Shortly after midnight, The Woodstock Police Department responded to a call for service near the 500 Block of Georgia Loop in Woodstock within Bibb County. Once on scene officers encountered Joseph Tyler Goodson, 32, of Woodstock, who barricaded himself in the residence and a stand-off ensued. A multitude of law enforcement officers from various agencies responded to the scene to assist. During the course of the incident, Goodson brandished a gun at officers.

UPDATE

Goodson was shot Sunday, and was pronounced deceased at approximately 5:35 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7. Additional information concerning Goodson’s medical condition and time of death will need to be directed to the Bibb County Coroner’s Office.
Nothing further is available, once the investigation has been completed, the findings will be turned over to the Bibb County District Attorney’s Office.
