This holiday season, the Woodstock community has the opportunity to spread joy and warmth by participating in Garrett’s Place Toy Drive at the Town Hall. Garrett’s Place, a nonprofit organization based in Bessemer, serves as a beacon of hope for foster children and families, offering crucial support and resources during challenging times.

In the lobby of the Woodstock Town Hall, a dedicated collection box awaits your donations. This initiative aims to gather toys for the Christmas season, bringing smiles to the faces of foster children in need. Donations can be made during regular office hours, allowing everyone the chance to contribute to this heartwarming cause.

Garrett’s Place stands as a testament to love, resilience, and a powerful redemption story. Founded by Paula and David Tarwater, the organization was born out of tragedy yet transformed into a powerful calling to support foster children in their community.

The Tarwaters’ journey began with an unimaginable loss—the passing of their infant son, Garrett. Amidst their grief, they found strength in their faith and community support. In the depths of her sorrow, Paula received a profound message from the Lord, a message that would only make sense years later.

Years down the line, when Garrett’s brothers had grown, a pivotal moment occurred. An emergency call prompted Paula and David to offer temporary care for a young child in need. That night marked a turning point—the message Paula had received crystallized into a calling. They embraced fostering as their mission, offering love, care, and a stable home to numerous children. Four of these children eventually became permanent members of their family.

Through this journey, the Tarwaters recognized a critical gap in support for foster children and families. They realized their calling extended beyond their household, leading to the inception of Garrett’s Place. The organization aims to provide essentials such as suitcases, clothes, books, school supplies, and toys to children entering the foster care system.

Your contribution to the toy drive at Woodstock Town Hall will directly impact the lives of these deserving children. By sharing a toy, you’re not only spreading joy during the holiday season but also supporting the invaluable work of Garrett’s Place in providing a brighter future for foster children in Bessemer and the surrounding areas.

Let’s come together as a community and make this holiday season a memorable one for those who need it most. Drop off a toy at Woodstock Town Hall and be a part of the heartwarming journey of Garrett’s Place.

Thank you for your generosity and kindness in making a difference in the lives of foster children this Christmas!
