Bibb County Track Team To Compete This Weekend

Bibb County Track & Field Coach Bobby Terry said that the Choctaws will travel to Hamilton this Thursday and Friday to compete in the 4A Region III Sectional meet and then on to compete in the State Finals on April 29-May 1 in Gulf Shores.

Coach Terry said that Bibb has one of the strongest track teams since he started coaching track & field five years ago and the Seniors on this team have been competing in the sport now for 5 years. Some of those Seniors are now ranked in the Top 5 in several events for their 4A division in statewide rankings. Ranked athletes include Deshun Murrell in the 200 and 400 meters, James Austin Tindle & Travis McKenzie, 300M Hurdles, Logan Browning, Discus Throw, Letrell Morrison, Long Jump, High Jump & Triple Jump, and the Bibb 4×400 Relay Team.

Coach Terry was not willing to make any predictions about the outcome of the upcoming track meets but he did say that this team has worked hard, the athletes are talented and they will be competitive at the state level and will make Bibb County proud of their efforts.

Track & Field athletes have been paying their own way in this sport said Terry. There is no admission charged at track events. This year there has been a track and field booster club formed to help raise funds for expenses. If you can help with the expense of travel and overnight lodging and meals for these athletes to attend the upcoming Sectional and State Track meets please contact the BCHS school office and ask for the Track Team Booster Club or Coach Terry. All donations will go to support travel and expenses for the track team.

The track team is coached by Bobby Terry. Philip Peak is the Middle Distance Coach and Nick Belvin is the Throws Coach.

Good luck Choctaws.
