In a live press conference Alabama Governor Kay Ivey, along with Attorney General Steve Marshall and Secretary of State John Merrill announced that the election scheduled for March 31 has been postponed until July 14 under the Governor’s authority pursuant to the Alabama Emergency Act of 1955, Code of Alabama Section 31-9-1. This step has been taken due to concerns arising from the spread of the COVID-19 virus and steps that are being taken to mitigate the spread and protect the health of the citizens of the state.
