West Blocton Mayor Daniel Sims would like to invite everyone to come out and enjoy the fun at the walking track (483 Oak Street) Friday night. Things to do include:

  • 5:30 pm showing a kids cartoon
  • 6:00 pm showing movie “the Sandlot”
  • Fireworks at dark

There will be a lemonade stand, ice cream, food trucks, shaved ice, kid games, and more!

Centreville and Brent kick off their annual Celebration on the Green on Saturday at 1:00 with the official ribbon cutting of the Cahaba Riverwalk Park to celebrate the improvements through the Cahaba Blueway program. With a refreshed walking track and a new canoe launch and overlook, it’s like a whole new park.

Afterwards, events on the Green (across from the Cahaba Medical Care Community Building) will begin with the Rockets and Rapids 5k Run (previously named Watermelon Run). Following the 5k will be a kids’ 1 mile fun run. Medals will be given out this year, and electronic chips for logging runners’ times will be used again this year after an absence last year.

Fireworks will start at 9:00 pm, while patriotic music is broadcast from WBIB, AM1110.

Features of the Celebration on the Green will include:

  • One Fine Day Boutique will have their traveling pop-up shop on site. One Fine Day Boutique is locally owned and based in Centreville
  • Pazzo Big Slice Pizza
  • Holy Smokes BBQ
  • Beck’s Blissful Bites (with their highly anticipated French macaroons)
  • Cox Cattle and Produce from Chilton County will be there with locally grown produce
  • Let’s Jump kid’s play houses will be present

Everyone show up and have fun!
